Beyond Biology and Towards Resistance: Science, Medicine, and Women of Color in the United States
This thesis grapples with the scientific and medical experiences of women of color in the United States ¿ those experiences of exploitation, erasure, and dehumanization. This work also considers the following questions: Why has the scientific and medical exploitation and erasure of women of color been possible? What exactly is it about the bodies, minds, and beings of women of color? Finally, how has the category of the human been biologically determined?
