This thesis seeks new narratives for understanding globalization and its effect on world cities that are sensitive to local agency, non-Western contexts, and the effects that globally oriented urban development has on marginalized urban communities. Ultimately, I seek to expand the political horizons for such communities in contesting global urban development paradigms.
