This lamp is full of 19th century Polish folk art influence, suggesting its origin in Poland. Its backplate bears resemblance to zydles, Polish backed-stools. Symmetrically opposed birds are also common in Polish folk art, as is imagery of branches. Pewter use faded after the middle of the 19th century, possibly suggesting early 19th century provenance.
