This cast of lamps was common in the Central Anti-Atlas Mountains in Morocco in the 19th-century. Some other examples, such as one from the Jewish Museum (Museum Number F 3804), are enameled and have more intricate engravings than this one does. This simpler design is more common, however, as few of the others have survived.
