Introduction

We are pleased to present the second electronic issue of the Undergraduate Journal of Social Studies, featuring academic work written during the 2011 fall term. We are proud of the volume, quality, and disciplinary breadth of submissions, and are encouraged that Wesleyan students are excited by interdisciplinary dialogue and the process of peer review. The papers we selected for publication are elegantly written and evince genuine intellectual excitement, a testament to the strength Wesleyan's social sciences program. We would like to thank all authors for their submissions, editors for their thorough and thoughtful comments, and the College of Social Studies for its continued support.
