Abstract
This thesis proposes a model to assess the psychological well-being of chimpanzees in captivity. Additionally, it explores how enrichment and care techniques can be applied to meet three basic psychological needs of chimpanzees (controllability, predictability & stimulation), the importance of meeting these needs and how not meeting these needs may be reflected in the proposed model.
