In this thesis, private properties on Connecticut's traprock ridges will be used as an example of recent controversies regarding land use regulation. It is intended to provide an analysis of a problem that has arisen in Central Connecticut. The thesis will show that in many ways these controversies highlight larger political and legal issues, some of which are of national importance. The thesis is a specific case study that illustrates a current crisis in which landowners and conservationists are arming themselves for legal battle in court and in the legislature.
