Abstract

This thesis examines Chinese national identity through the lens of the CCP?s patriotic education campaign. Drawing on personal interviews, visits to patriotic education bases, and close readings of history textbooks, this work discusses how Chinese historical narratives are constructed, and analyzes intellectual discourse around portrayals of China?s complicated past.
