Abstract

This thesis explores Fernando Vallejo's representation of Medellín's sicario culture in the 1990's in his novel La Virgen de los Sicarios. It situates the narrative in a historiographical discourse, dealing specifically with Vallejo's projection of the city, utilization of a polemical and semi-autobiographical narrator, and emphasis on language.
