The Hebrew text of this lamp reads "Hanukkah." Prior to the 20th century, almost all Hanukkah lamps, especially among those in Europe, were made of copper alloy, silver, or pewter. This suggests a 20th century origin for the object. The Magnes Collection has a nearly identical object from the United States in the 20th century. An American provenance for the object seems likely as a result.
